Hey Kids

Sorry it's been so long. Was out of town for a bit and a little busy on the work and home fronts. Went to North Carolina for my Grandfather's 90th birthday. It was interesting. Stayed at this place out side of Ashville that lacked both phones and cable television. I didn't realize they made places like that anymore. In fact, I'm pretty convinced that a U-N Human Rights tribunal had banned such barbaric places...sadly since there was no phone I couldn't call anyone to report it.

There were two interesting things that occurred that weekend. The first was I gave golf a try for the first time. Only on the driving range, but it was not too bad. Hard time not smacking at the ball like I was playing baseball. My dad kept yelling at me to keep my head down, but I didn't think that was a good idea. I figured with the way I was hitting the ball, it would have been better for those around me if I knew where the ball was going to scream out a good "fore!" or even "Holy shit! Get down! For the love of god, please duck!"

By the time I was done, I was able to hit a ball quite a ways and stright for the most part. Not sure if I'm rich enough yet to do more with golf right now, but who knows.

The second thing occured while driving throught he mountains of Western North Carolina. They are beautiful hills, but I ran across a confounding sign along the way. It read: "You are now crossing the Eastern Continental Divide".

I did a double take and asked my brother if he'd seen the same sign. He had, but neither of us could figure out what the hell it meant. For those who don't know, the "continental divide" runs through the Rockies. It's the line of deliniation for the direction that rivers run. East of the divide rivers run east, west, they run west. So, what the hell does the Eastern Continental Divide do? As far as we were able to determine, east of the Eastern Continental Divide, rivers run east. West of the Eastern Continental Divide, the water pools until it hits the Rockies.

If you know any different, feel free to let me know.
